Summary
Rasotica is a small historic hamlet above the bay of the same name. Its development is linked to migration from Sumartin, cultivation of the land and fishing.
The name Porobija on old maps is associated with a family nickname of the first residents.
The name of the area and the name of the hamlet
Domagoj Vidović connects the name Rasotica with an older form, Rasohatica, and a branching valley. During Austrian rule, the settlement was called Porobija, after a family nickname of the Radićs who lived there. An earlier mention of the bay is not the founding date of the early modern hamlet.

Origins in Sumartin and everyday life
Sumartin was the starting point for the first settlers in the early 19th century and the hamlet’s school and religious centre. The conservation description refers to a small group of houses, cultivated land and fishing families. Life in the hinterland was thus connected with the coast and the larger settlement.

The bay and the houses are two separate points
Rasotica Bay is a separate coastal site. The hamlet pin marks the group of houses above it, based on the building and road map reviewed. It does not mark a mooring or beach. When viewing the houses, check access to private property and the condition of the buildings.
