Summary
Nakal is a small historic hamlet among the livestock-raising districts of the Selca area. The Eterović family, associated with Pučišća, features in its family history.
The family history shows that people moved within the island between coastal settlements and shepherds’ hamlets.
Families and the livestock landscape
Nakal belongs to a group of hamlets around Selca that developed in the 18th century. The official historical account associates it with the shepherd families of Eterović and notes their origins in Pučišća. This detail concerns family migration; it does not mean Nakal is part of the harbour centre of Pučišća.

A hamlet and a larger centre
Selca is the shared centre of the historic hinterland to which Nakal belongs. Small rural communities and the larger settlement had different scales of housing and public life, while people moving between them connected them within the same island network.
Houses and the spaces between them
The value of the settlement includes the arrangement of houses, paths and boundary walls. The pin marks the approximate centre of the hamlet. Respect private yards and preserve the stone walls when visiting; a ruined appearance does not prove that a house has no owner.
