Summary
The remains of a windmill on a rise above Dračevica bear witness to the former use of wind power for grain milling in the island economy.
Alongside quarries and fields, the mill reveals another economic role of Dračevica.
A grain mill
Local accounts date the windmill to the 18th century. Its hilltop location was linked to the use of wind for milling. The municipal description highlights the mill’s role in the wider area of the island, but the scale of its work should not be turned into unverified production figures.
Work and landscape
The ruined building is part of the agricultural history of Dračevica, alongside vineyards, olive groves and water cisterns. The spatial plan lists it specifically within the buffer zone of the rural settlement, northeast of the village. The surviving walls do not mean that the original mechanism has been preserved or restored.
Setting and access
The reference point marks the hill described in the spatial plan; the precise location of the remains has not been confirmed by coordinates. Check the approach before setting out. Do not enter the ruin or climb on unstable walls.
