Coast and abandoned settlement
A specialist account of Pustinja Blaca (Blaca Hermitage) lists Smrka among the hamlets that were connected with the hermitage community. Paths from these places led to the monastery; later depopulation left old houses and neglected farm buildings behind. The settlement lies inland from the cove.
Military shelter tunnel
Coastal accounts also mention Smrka for a deep-cut shelter tunnel for military vessels. It is a man-made military structure, not a natural sea cave. Popular labels such as ‘submarine shelter’ do not, by themselves, establish its original purpose, date or current rules of use.
What the map marks
The pin leads to Smrka Cove. It does not mark the entrance to the shelter tunnel or the centre of the old settlement. Before visiting, check land access, current restrictions and the condition of each structure separately; reaching the cove does not mean that all military or private areas are open.
