Summary
Nagorinac is a historic shepherds’ hamlet in the hinterland of Selca. The Trutanić family history and a group of stone houses connect it with the development of livestock raising in the interior of Brač.
Nagorinac is one of the separately named hamlets around Selca, not a residential block in the centre of Selca.
A family hamlet
Nagorinac developed as part of the hamlets around Selca during the 18th century. The historical account highlights the shepherd families of Trutanić. Its story is therefore shaped by family homes and work on the surrounding land, rather than by a harbour or town function.

Connection with Selca
Selca was the main centre for the residents of these hamlets. Seasonal stays with livestock gradually developed into more permanent residence. Later emigration to larger settlements changed life in these small communities.
What the rural settlement preserves
The stone houses and their relationship to one another are important for understanding life in the past. The reference pin shows the group of houses; the condition of individual buildings and permission to enter should be checked on site. The older account of emigration is not a list of today’s residents.
