Summary
Nadsela is a historic hamlet in the interior of eastern Brač, within the Selca area. Small family clusters and nearby churches reveal different layers of land use.
The rural hamlet and the medieval Church of St Thomas did not originate in the same period.
A shepherd family hamlet
Nadsela belongs to the hamlets around Selca whose early modern development is associated with livestock raising. The historical account records families of Trutanić here. The number of families in older documentation should not be read as the number of households today.

An older sacred landscape
The Church of St Thomas belongs to a medieval layer of the surrounding area, predating the development of early modern shepherds’ dwellings. Its proximity helps explain the long-term use of the area, but does not prove that the same settlement was continuously inhabited from the Middle Ages.

Connection with Selca
Selca was the main centre for the hamlets around it and an important destination for their later resettlement. Nadsela has its own point among the houses on the map; the pin does not mark the boundaries of the historic settlement or the entrance to a building.
