Summary
The summer residence of Jerolim Kavanjin and its garden connect the historic centre of Sutivan with Baroque literature and country-house culture.
The writer’s estate also influenced the reshaping of public space by the harbour.
A Baroque country house
The summer residence is dated to the turn from the 17th to the 18th century. It is associated with Jerolim Kavanjin, a poet and lawyer whose life and work belong to the cultural world of Split and Brač. The house and garden are part of the historic centre of Sutivan.

Relationship with public space
The municipal history notes that the demolition of the old loggia in 1879 enlarged the area in front of the summer residence, while in return the town received land for a municipal building. This example shows how private property and public needs were negotiated in a small island community.

Viewing and location
The OSM outline marks the Kavanjin residence building, not all the historic boundaries of the garden. Check current availability before entering the interior or garden. Viewing the exterior is part of reading the harbour centre, while respecting residents and property.
