A fortified house in the harbour
Historical accounts of Sutivan link the construction of the fortified residence with defence against raids during the Venetian–Ottoman conflicts. The house stands beside the seashore and was shaped to resemble a small tower. The municipal development programme notes its sloping base, a balcony facing the sea and a sundial on the south side.
Jankov dvor
The name Jankov dvor (Janko's Residence) preserves the memory of its builder, known as Count Janko. The fortified residence belongs to a group of family houses and summer residences that shaped the historic harbour of Sutivan. General accounts differ in their dating of earlier phases, which should be distinguished from later alterations.
Access and visiting
The building is on Obala kralja Tomislava. Its exterior and relationship to the harbour can be viewed while walking along the waterfront. Check whether access is possible before entering the interior or private parts of the complex.
