The family and construction of the residence
Sources record the family's name in forms including Cerinić, Cerineo and other historical variants. The Croatian Biographical Lexicon associates the construction of the Škrip residence, according to an inscription, with Mihovil Cerinić and the year 1570. Its completion is attributed to Jakov in 1618, and a repair to Jelena in 1771.
The Croatian Encyclopaedia records that Mihovil Šimunov built family residences in Škrip and Splitska. The residences reflected the family's standing and property holdings; over the centuries, its members participated in the communal administration of Brač. Some members of the same family owned property in other places, so the name Cerinić alone does not identify a site without its settlement and location.
The fortified residence in old Škrip
The residence is part of Škrip's densely layered historic centre, where older fortifications, churches and family buildings meet. It should be distinguished from Radojković Tower with its Roman mausoleum and from the other family residence in Splitska. A shared family name does not make these buildings one site.
Access and visiting
The building is beside the square in Škrip. Its exterior and position in the settlement can be viewed while walking through the centre, with respect for residents' privacy. A map marker does not confirm that the interior is open or that guided visits are available.
