Summary
A complex of houses and a garden developed around the fortified house of Jakov Božićević–Natalis. Its alterations show the change from a defensive coastal home to an extensive family residence.
The defensive core and the later garden belong to different phases of the same complex.
The earliest fortified house
Jakov Božićević–Natalis built a house by the sea, dated to 1505 by the encyclopaedia. Its coastal location connected residential life with the need for protection. A complex associated with the Ilić family later developed around it.

Residential courtyards and garden
The historic residential complexes of Sutivan included work and living buildings. A Baroque garden was later laid out within the Ilić complex. These changes show how families adapted their homes to the growth of their estates, comfort and social standing.
Setting and access
The official boundary of the Ilić house complex helps with orientation in the historic centre. Check with the owners whether it is possible to enter the houses and garden; viewing the public coastal area does not grant access to private parts.
