House by the harbour
The complex consists of three connected houses, each with an upper floor and a high attic. The Milna Tourist Board describes symmetrical exterior stone staircases and roof windows aligned with the window axes. Alterations to the central section between 1933 and 1937 changed its earlier appearance, but part of the original interior has been preserved.
The high attic and repeated arrangement of openings link the three houses into a distinctive complex. Two exterior staircases emphasise the side sections of the building. The municipal plan lists the House of Vladimir Nazor with its neighbouring houses separately from Nazor's old house in Glava, a distinction that also matters when comparing historic photographs.
Memorial significance
Vladimir Nazor spent part of his childhood here and returned to the place in his literary work. Descriptions of the house mention furniture, books, manuscripts and photographs from the memorial collection. A monument to the poet by Mirko Ostoja is also nearby.
This complex should be distinguished from other houses associated with the Nazor family, especially the old house in Glava and the building at Kruševa njiva. These are separate locations, even though they share the family name.
Access and visiting
The house is in the harbour area of Bobovišća na moru. Check with the local tourist board whether the collection can be visited and at what times. The exterior is part of a residential setting, so respect the privacy of neighbouring homes during your visit.
