StraževnikOther names: Sv. Kuzma i Damjan na StraževnikuMiddle Ages · known for its stone triptychMap source: the boundary of protected cultural property Z-5906; check the entrance and access separately.

Summary

The Church of Sts Cosmas and Damian on Straževnik hill is also known for a stone triptych now kept in the parish church of St Nicholas in Gornji Humac. The source links the triptych to the workshop of Nikola Firentinac.

The entry covers the church and its well-known relocated artwork; the triptych is no longer at this site.

History and purpose

The Church of Sts Cosmas and Damian on Straževnik is associated with the medieval religious landscape between Pražnica and Gornji Humac.

Structure and traces of the past

The parish church of St Nicholas in Gornji Humac now holds a stone triptych depicting the Madonna and Child with Sts Cosmas and Damian. The source associates it with the workshop of Nikola Firentinac and the church of the same dedication on Straževnik. The historic object and its original site are therefore presented as connected but separate entries.

Access and visiting

The site is outside the village. Check the exact route, access and condition of the building before visiting.
