History and purpose

Construction of the Church of St George in Bobovišća began in 1656 and was completed in 1696, as recorded by an inscription on a stone door jamb in front of the entrance to the present parish church.

Structure and traces of the past

The older church was demolished down to its foundations in the late 19th century. The present building was erected in 1914, so this entry should be read as the history of a site with two distinct building phases.
