History and purpose
The parish church of Our Lady of the Annunciation (Gospa od Blagovijesti) in Milna was built in 1783 by Ignacije Macanović of Trogir, with the help of other builders from Brač.
Structure and traces of the past
The church was designed as a coherent Baroque building with an elaborate façade and stone steps. The older stone bell tower from the 16th century was built by Trifun Bokanić; eight stone masks, or mascarons, adorn its upper storey. The complex incorporates the earlier Church of St Mary from 1519. The Annunciation altarpiece is attributed to the Venetian painter G. Diziani from the first half of the 18th century.
