Tomo Didolić and Selca
Tomo Didolić was born in Selca in 1844 and died there in 1907. The Croatian Biographical Lexicon describes him as a public figure, supporter of the National Party (Narodna stranka) and leader of the revival movement in his home village. He became the first mayor of the newly established municipality in 1885.
He also served as a representative in the Dalmatian Diet and supported literature, culture and education. His house was a meeting place for members of the National Party, and he maintained ties with a number of public figures of his time.
A stone bust beside the municipality
The municipal account states that Mirza Morić’s sculpture was installed on 16 July 2003, on Municipality Day and the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It stands on a terrace in the entrance area of the municipal building.
The bust forms part of Selca’s group of monuments, but its dedication relates primarily to local administrative history and the National Revival. Its stone material connects it with the village’s stone-masonry heritage.
Access and visiting
The bust is beside the municipal building in central Selca. The entrance area and terrace are not the same as unrestricted access to the offices; plan your visit around access arrangements and the institution’s work.
