Summary
The Maslinova tunnel is an underground maritime facility in the cove of the same name on the southwestern side of Brač. The tunnel and the adjacent marine area are part of the island’s military infrastructure, alongside the separate tunnels at Smrka and Kruščica.

Underground naval harbour
Planning documents list Maslinova as a military harbour, or a tunnel. This distinguishes it from a natural cave: it is a structure cut into the coast to shelter vessels.
The site is often described as a submarine tunnel, but that popular name alone does not confirm what types of vessels actually used it. Its function as an underground military harbour is reliably documented.
The cove and documented use
A scientific account of research into Adriatic underground harbours also covers Maslinova. The study examined marine sediments and the environmental condition of former military structures. Unlike the sources on construction history, it concerns recent research of the underwater environment and does not establish the year the tunnel was excavated.
Maslinova is a cove where the surrounding waters are used for economic activity. Its accessibility and conditions for navigation therefore cannot be inferred from the tourist label for the tunnel.
Access and restrictions
A map marker is not permission to moor, enter or dive. Before you go, check the current status of the area and local restrictions with the relevant authorities. The tunnel is not presented as a developed public attraction with a confirmed safe entrance.
