Shelter for vessels
Official spatial-planning documents list Kruščica among the special-purpose military harbours in the Nerežišća area. The opening in the rocky coast and the inner water space form a constructed shelter for vessels.
In his account of the underwater sites of Brač, Neven Šerić describes the large tunnel in Krušica Cove as a former mooring for a military vessel. His text also mentions later sheltering of fishing boats, but it does not confirm permission to enter today.
Location near neighbouring coves
Kruščica lies along the same stretch of coast as Smrka. They are separate coves with separate tunnels. Because sources spell the name differently, the forms Kruščica, Krušćica and Krušica are all found.
The tunnel was included in a scientific study of underground harbours in the Adriatic. Available information confirms the identity of the structure but does not reliably establish a specific year of construction.
Access and visiting
Before approaching, check the current rules of use and whether access is permitted. The tunnel is not a developed visitor site. Do not enter by boat, on foot or by diving based on the map marker alone.
