Chakavian speech and everyday life
In the collections ‘Tujo štivala’, ‘Kripno zemja’ and ‘Litnjo mišoncija jazikov’, and the prose work ‘Broške kartuline’, the local dialect becomes a literary language. His ‘Glos sa škrop’ has been the subject of a dedicated linguistic analysis showing the features of Škrip speech and its relationship to other Brač idioms.
A festival in his birthplace
The Festival of Chakavian Speech Štefe Pulišelić takes place in Škrip, beside the local heritage museum. The gathering brings contemporary poets and the preservation of the island’s speech together with the memory of the author. It continues the cultural life of the place, rather than serving only as a memorial to one biography.
